This photo is pretty old (in case you couldn’t tell by the outdated film poster in the back)…but it’s Shakespeare’s statue in the middle of Leicester Square! #london #vscocam (http://ift.tt/1RjJ0wo)

Sculpted by Giovanni Fontana, the monument was placed in Leicester Square in 1874 under refurbishment plans made by Albert Grant. It’s a copy of the monument in Poet’s Corner, Westminster Abbey, which was the work of Peter Scheemakers. Nowadays, especially during the tourist season, Leicester Square is almost always packed full of crowds. But looking at the sculpture always makes me feel strangely peaceful.
