teach them that the heart is an organ, it is meant to function,
and it will repair itself over, and over.

do not teach your daughters that they will only love once.
teach them to love everybody, especially themselves,
and that love is not a chance, it’s a choice.

do not teach your daughters who they will fall in love with.
teach them that prince charming is a fairytale. teach them that love is diverse
and it may come in any shape, and that’s okay.

do not teach your daughters that there is only one path through life.
teach them to look up, to look around, to make decisions,
and how to lace up their shoes, and mark their own path.

do not teach your daughters that silence is an answer.
teach them the word no. teach them to scream and cry and speak
and that their words have worth.

do not teach your daughters that they need your validation.
teach them that they are women - blood, tears, skin and all -
and that the only validation they need is their own.
